Nor’easter Requiem

1.
Snowed in
with her Doberman’s ashes
and a disconnected phone

2.
Her life reduces
to half-chewed toys,
ghost smell of warm fur.

3.
When the wind howls
it’s a comfort
memory wagging its tail, waiting
to fetch whatever she throws
into the afterlife.
